Amaganyane Anti-Poaching Unit
This project supports the vital work of the Amaganyane Anti-Poaching Unit, the dedicated guardians of Matetsi Private Game Reserve. We employ, equip and train these rangers to combat poaching, protect wildlife, and safeguard the region’s biodiversity. Their efforts are crucial in ensuring the long-term survival of Africa’s iconic wildlife species.

By establishing the Amaganyane unit and providing them with advanced training, essential equipment, and logistical support, we are strengthening their capacity to effectively patrol the reserve, detect and deter poaching activities, and protect vulnerable species. This project directly contributes to the security and stability of the wider Kavango-Zambezi (KAZA) ecosystem.
How it works:
We provide specialized anti-poaching training, including tracking, surveillance, and first aid. We equip rangers with essential gear, such as GPS devices, radios, and night-vision equipment. We support logistical operations, including vehicle maintenance and fuel. We implement community outreach programs to foster local support.
Why it works:
Well-trained and equipped rangers are more effective in deterring poachers. Community support enhances intelligence gathering and cooperation. Consistent logistical support ensures operational efficiency. This approach creates a strong deterrent against wildlife crime.
